During the middle of the twentieth century, El Monte was home to many Dust Bowl settlers from Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Calling itself “The End of the Santa Fe Trail”, El Monte, California is a city in Los Angeles County and a suburb of Los Angeles. During the middle of the Twentieth Century, El Monte was home to many Dust Bowl settlers from Oklahoma and Arkansas who found employment in surrounding farming communities. Today El Monte has a predominantly Latino population. El Monte enjoys the Mediterranean climate that southern California is well known for.
