Bremerton

As a city of less than 40,000 located on the western side of Puget Sound Washington, Bremerton offers a unique blend of small-town feel and big-city accouterments. Bremerton itself is a historically important shipping center for the state with attractions including maritime museums and a naval yard, but its proximity to Seattle, which is less than an hour away by ferry, means that residents and visitors can easily enjoy the cultural variety and exciting nightlife associated with that city. Served by the Bremerton School District, the city prides itself on maintaining a program of comprehensive instruction in all schools, and offers free Kindergarten, as well as tutoring programs at all grade levels.

There are a number of colleges in Bremerton and the surrounding area, including options such as Everest College, West Sound Technical and Olympic College, all of which offer a variety of professional, trade and technology-oriented programs. Other Bremerton colleges include Vincennes University and Western Washington University, which are both traditional four year colleges offering a wide variety of bachelor's and master's programs and degrees. In addition to the colleges in Bremerton, the surrounding area boasts a large number of universities and technical schools.
