SCIENCE
A science education degree is valuable in today’s society where science plays an important role. The skills and knowledge of scientists in various fields, such as chemistry, biology and physics, are considered to be priceless in any modern country.
Science Degree Description
Science degree programs are many and varied but they can be divided into a number of basic categories, including chemistry, earth and atmospheric sciences, biotechnology, environmental sciences, computing science, chemistry, psychology, physics, mathematics, and veterinary science. These categories can be further subdivided into specific fields of study for a science education degree. For example, in the biological sciences, specific fields include anatomy, animal physiology, molecular biology, plant biology, and cell biology. In biotechnology, two specific programs are bioengineering and genetic engineering.
Other science degree programs may focus on environmental studies, atmospheric sciences, chemistry, veterinary science, physics, mathematics, and statistics. Veterinary science is an important category because pets play an important role in the family for a substantial percentage of the population. Physics is for the study of the different physical laws in the universe and is divided into various specialties, including chemical physics, astrophysics, geophysics, and others. Other science education degree courses are agriculture, botany, astronomy, mental health, engineering, information science, forestry, nutrition, fisheries, and computer science.
Science Careers
Graduates of science degree programs will have different roles, such as molecular biologist, physicist, meteorologist, engineer, information scientist, agriculturist, nutritionist, forestry scientist, mathematician, statistician, veterinarian, geophysicist, astronomer, mental health practitioner, and others. A molecular biologist conducts research studies on DNA and genetics while a meteorologist is the person to be consulted regarding the weather and climate changes. An astrophysicist plays an important role in the design of space vehicles and in space exploration. An astronomer conducts investigations regarding the various heavenly bodies.
Another kind of career that is a product of science education degree courses is that of a biologist, who is responsible for studies regarding life on Earth. Meanwhile, the computer scientist and information scientist play important roles in today’s society that is very much dependent on computers and networks. The nutritionist investigates the effects of food ingredients on the body and provides advice on the proper foods to eat. Thus, the nutritionist may sometimes be employed by large food companies to ensure that the nutritional values of their products are emphasized in the labels and in the commercials. Meanwhile, engineers play an important role in the design of machinery and other technical tools for various industries.
