Colleges in Silver Spring

Silver Spring is an unincorporated but urbanized area in the state of Maryland, located in the county of Montgomery. Based on population, this census-designated place (CDP) is ranked third in Maryland, after the municipalities of Baltimore and Columbia. Students who are planning to study in one of the Silver Spring colleges or universities may be interested to know that Silver Spring is only seven miles from Washington, D.C. and 35 miles from Baltimore. 

The central business district is found at the southernmost portion of Silver Spring, and the northern tip of Washington, D.C. Graduates of universities and colleges in Silver Spring may note with interest that the central business district has a population density of almost 16,000 per square mile, and that there have been substantial developments in office, residential and retail facilities in the area.
